Although it is no longer being updated, there is a huge amount of material there which is of permanent value - the succinct exposition of concepts in physics, medicine, economics, and the like, for example. You're right about the educational value. We used to have the material available for Curriculum Online in the UK, and it was much appreciated. But I have my doubts about whether there is a purchaser out there; and philanthropy is not part of the mindset of the current owners. I am told that they have no plans either to use the database or to sell it. The thought of the database just gathering electronic dust, and all that work wasted, greatly upsets me, but there we are.DChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10192779827863835310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377709913595182916.post-64650437446436598222008-05-27T11:38:00.000+00:002008-05-27T11:38:00.000+00:00That's a great pity. Citizendium, an expert-friendly wiki-style encyclopedia, is one such project where the database would find a good home.John Naruwanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13641680794403601212noreply@blogger.com
